Grand National Results 2019: Tiger Roll makes history with Aintree win

Published:
Tiger Roll

Tiger Roll is the first horse since Red Rum to record back-to-back Grand National victories after storming home to win the 2019 Grand National for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell.

The little warrior bolted up by just over 2l to leave punters punching the air in delight as the 4/1 shot also became the shortest-price favourite to win the race since 11/4 chance Poethlyn in 1919.

Russell gave the nine-year-old a lovely patient ride in midfield and overcame a slight blunder towards the finish to deliver the Authorized gelding at just the right time.

In doing so he finished ahead of gallant 66/1 shot Magic Of Light for Jessica Harrington and second-favourite Rathvinden who came home third.

Outlander would have been the worst result in the book for our traders but Richard Spencer’s charge never really got into the race.

Can Tiger Roll do it again in 2020? Our traders have installed him as the 6/1 favourite to complete the hat-trick and emulate the legendary Red Rum.
