Dismay? This May! Punters backing General Election next month

Theresa May

Britain could be heading back to the polls as early as next month if our political punters are anything to go by.

May 2019 is now 11/4 to contain a General Election following significant support in the betting, with June also fancied to hold a snap election at odds of 5/1.

Much depends on the next few days in Parliament, where another round of indicative voting could take place alongside a fourth meaningful vote on Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement.

If both fail, then Britain could be heading back to the ballot box. Alternatively, our traders go 2/1 about a second EU Referendum and the same price for the UK to revoke Article 50 in 2019.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters are clearly siding with an election in the next few months rather than a second referendum getting the go ahead.”
