Dan Skelton looks ahead to Ladies’ Day at Aintree
We start Ladies Day with Knight In Dubai and Mohaayed (1.45). Mohaayed takes a step up in trip and I feel he is ready for it. He has been consistent the whole time this spring.
Top weight’s not ideal but he won off a big weight before so that doesn’t hold too many fears. He’s just not as well handicapped as he used to be.
We rode Knight In Dubai all wrong at Cheltenham, we were too handy. He was in front near enough two out and then faded up the hill we can take our time a bit more with him.
Sofia’s Rock steps up in trip (2.20). He cantered around at Ludlow the other day and won easy. He will love the track, but I need to see how the ground is.
Crucial Role runs in a very good race obviously (2.50). There has been quite a bit of rain which should help him out a little bit. At the end of the day he is rated 150 but it is a big task.
Born Survivor runs in the Topham (4.05). We schooled him over the national style fences at home for about three weeks.
He is ready to run his best but we wouldn’t want too much rain. With thirty runners, you need all the luck in the world.
Ardlethen has been progressive all season and has a decent mark (4.40). I really like him and think he will make a smashing chaser next year but don’t think we are finished over hurdles yet.
They’ve all turned up for this race, so it is going to be hard but he’ll love the ground
We run Montego Grey in the bumper (5.15). He ran really well in a high class bumper race at Ascot.
I won’t say he is going to win but he can run well in these big bumpers.
