Ajax v Juventus tips: Will Dutch courage prevail again?

Published:
Dusan Tadic - Ajax

Ajax are in their first Champions League last-eight tie since the 2002-03 season – when the competition had two group stages.

They host Juventus who have reached the final in two of the previous five seasons and now have the irrepressible force of Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.

But the Serie A champions will have to be wary of this exciting Ajax crop who downed Real Madrid in the last round.

Can the Dutch do it again or will Ronaldo and friends do an Italian job? We’ve got all the pre-match odds and info here…

Match Odds

Reckon Ajax will upset another European giant? You can get 11/5 for the Eredivisie side to grab a valuable home win.

But Juventus go into this as 5/4 favourites to bag an away victory. With the likes of Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala on one side and Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech on the other, goals could be the order of the day.

Both teams to net is 3/4 and Over 3.5 Goals is 12/5. The pair will be wary of losing the first-leg, so we go with a score draw at 10/3.

Talking Tactics

Ajax have seen their talented crop blossom this season – seeing the benefits of keeping their youngsters for an extra season.

The spine of the team features Andre Onana, Mathijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong who have been stand- out names this campaign.

Erik ten Hag may play Tadic as a false-nine with the lively David Neres out-wide.

Whether Max Allegri opts for Dybala or Mario Mandzukic will be telling, but Moise Kean could miss out with Ronaldo back fit.

Juve winger Federico Bernadeschi is wary of Ajax’s threat but the 25-year-old could be the difference maker here.

Goalscorer odds

Following his hat-trick against Atletico Madrid, Ronaldo is 6/1 to net 2 or more Goals. You can find his Juve team-mate Mandzukic at 5/1 to open the scoring and 21/10 anytime.

Kean has been in red-hot form in the last few weeks and Allegri may let him loose in the second half. The 19-year old is 11/2 to score last.

As for the home side, you can get Tadic to net in a draw at 9/1. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is back at Ajax and you can find the veteran striker at 5/2 to bag anytime.
