2019 Irish Grand National Betting Tips: Three to follow at Fairyhouse

Fairyhouse

We’ve already had theAintreeGrand National and the Scottish Grand National. Now it’s the turn of theIrish Grand National, which gets going from Fairyhouse at 5pm on Easter Monday.

Gordon Elliott completed an England and Irish Grand Nationaldouble with General Principle last year. Will he have the winner once againover the 24 fence 3m 5f renewal?

We’ve marked your card with three tips for the race, which will be live on Racing TV.

Jury Duty

Form: 7211U

Another chance is given to Jury Duty first up. The eight-year-old was well-fancied at Aintreethree weeks ago but unseated jockey Robbie Power at the 18th after blunderingbadly.

There’s still plenty to like about the Well Chosen gelding. Not least that he’s trained by Elliott, who has won the last two AintreeNationals, last year’s Irish National and the 2018 American National with JuryDuty.

We already know that Jury Duty stays all day. And withsupport pouring in for the one-time Group 1 winner, there’s every reason tothink he’ll be on the premises if he can produce a clean round.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “The Irish Grand National always sees a good spread of support but Jury Duty has been the main attraction in the betting.”

Auvergnat

Form: 3001P

There’s no guarantee Auvergnatwill line-up at Fairyhouse. If he does, there’s good reason to fancy thegelding’s chances. Enda Bolger’s charge isn’t always pretty but tends to getthe job done.

The nine-year-old beat 26 rivals to win a 3½m Chase atLeopardstown over Christmas and is a regular over the longer trips, winning onhis only start over 4m+ at Punchestown last year.

Given his tip-top performances over the staying distances,he still looks pretty fairly treated off a mark of 143.

He can certainly get involved providing he puts in a better round of jumping than when he was pulled up in the Cross Country at Cheltenham.

Kimberlite Candy

Form: 1-1935

Who doesn’t love a trend-based pick? After crunching thenumbers, perusing the form and scouring back through the archives, we’ve comeup with Kimberlite Candy as a reallively longshot.

Tom Lacey’s fancy is nice and fresh following a near two-monthbreak since finishing a decent enough fifth behind Scottish National runner-upCrosspark at Newcastle.

And as trends dictate, he carries less than 10-13, has wonover 3m before and is aged nine or younger.

All of that adds up to a decent each-way shout for theseven-year-old, who should be ridden by Richie McLernon.
