PSG v Man United tips: Can Reds stage a famous fightback?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man United

Manchester United have produced plenty of European fairytales over the years, and they’ll need another tonight.

The Red Devils are 2-0 down as they head into the second-leg of their last-16 clash at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men saw Ajax prove that anything is possible last night, but the Red Devils are without a whole host of first-team players, including Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.

Can the Premier League side produce a miracle in Paris? Here’s everything you need to know…

Match odds

The odds clearly tell the story. PSG are 4/9 to win the match in 90 mins but are a mighty 1/50 to go through.

United are 6/1 to win the game in normal time, but 12/1 to qualify highlights the scale of the task ahead.

The Premier League side have won eight consecutive away games under Solskjaer, however. It’s a club record, with the Red Devils scoring three or more in four of those matches.

They must score twice tonight to keep their hopes alive, and there’s 20/1 about Man United to win and over 3.5 goals.

Talking tactics

Solskjaer’s options are massively limited. The Norwegian is without Pogba, Lingard and Martial, plus Alexis Sanchez, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata.

United have enough to put out a solid XI, but they’ve been forced to name six teenagers and eight academy graduates in this evening’s squad.

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford will carry United’s goal threat, while Diogo Dalot could get a start after a fine cameo against Southampton. Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira will attempt to stem the tide of PSG attacks.

That’ll include stopping former Man United winger Angel Di Maria. The Argentine was excellent in the first leg at Old Trafford. He’ll look to supply Kylian Mbappe with Edinson Cavani and Neymar still absent.

Goalscorer odds

After netting in the first leg, Mbappe heads up the first goalscorer betting. The Frenchman is 15/8 to bag the opener, with Di Maria next up at 5/1.

For United, there’s 7/1 about Lukaku to net first. The Belgian has hit form at just the right time, with four goals in his last two games. Rashford is next up at 8s.

And should lightning strike twice, Pascal Kimpembe is 50/1 to score first, having done so at Old Trafford.

Our traders reckon United have a job on their hands to keep Mbappe out, though. The 2018 World Cup winner is odds-on at 1/2 to score anytime. Lukaku and Rashford are each 14/5 to net at any point in the 90 minutes.
