Paul Townend is hoping to end the Festival with a winner

It’s the final day of the Festival and I will be trying to finish off the meeting with a win and I’ve got four chances to do that.

I start in the Triumph Hurdle with French Made (1.30) who won nicely in Clonmel in her first run for us. She will come on for that experience-wise and fitness-wise. She has the 7lb mares allowance here. I think she should stay well.

Being realistic she has a bit to find with the top ones like Sir Erec, but I can see her running a nice race into the prize-money.

In the County Hurdle I am riding Mr Adjudicator (2.10). He has only had one run for us this season but that was when he was second to the Champion Hurdle winner Espoir D’Allen so that form doesn’t read too bad now.

He was a very good juvenile last year. I think he is not without a chance. He has shown a good level of form.

We would have liked to have got another run into him I suppose but he is not a big, gross horse. We should have him straight enough. I think he is tough enough to handle the hustle and bustle of the County Hurdle.

I ride Salsaretta (2.50) in the Albert Bartlett. She was very tough over Christmas when she won in Limerick. She will have to settle to see out the three miles here as this race can often turn into a slog.

Again she gets the 7lb mares allowance but if she does settle – and she stayed so well in Limerick – she should be coming home well.

She is a mare we always thought a bit of and campaigned at the highest level to keep her as a novice for this year. We’d be hopeful of a place.

We are into the big one then and I am really looking forward to riding Al Boum Photo (3.30) in the Gold Cup. He has plenty to find with Presenting Percy on course form last year but I don’t think he was done with when he fell that day.

His Tramore form looks very strong on paper with Invitation Only and Alpha Des Obeaux a long way back and then coming out and running so well in the Thyestes Chase. He beat Total Recall giving him weight.

I think he will stay, which you really need to do in the Gold Cup, and he is open to a bit of improvement. If we can get into a nice rhythm I definitely think he has a chance. He is an improving horse in the race but you can make a case for a number of horses.

Willie Mullins hasn’t won the Gold Cup yet. It’s a race we’d all love to win. Hopefully he can win it this year and hopefully it will be with our one.
