Man City v Watford Tips: Awesome Aguero to sting the Hornets again?

Published:
Sergio Aguero Man City

Manchester City have won their last seven Premier League matches against Watford by an aggregate score of 21-3. Javi Gracia’s men might just have their work cut out this evening.

The Hornets have been pumped 0-5 and 0-6 by the Cityzens in recent times. Pep Guardiola’s side will be gunning for more goals tonight as they bid to tighten their grip at the top of the table.

Can the visitors become only the second team from outside the top-six to win at the Etihad since 2016? Or will City rack up their 15th home league win of the season?

Match Odds

Anything other than a home win would be a huge surprise here. That’s why our traders have City down as huge odds-on favourites at 1/7.

The hosts have developed a habit of giving teams a damn good thrashing at the Etihad this term. We go Evens about them to Win with Over 3.5 Goals in the match for the ninth time at home in the PL this term.

Watford have only failed to score in four top-flight away matches so far. It’s 31/20 for City to Win and Both Teams to Score this time around. The Hornets aren’t given much of a sniff at 16/1, while the Draw is available at 7/1.

Talking Tactics

Guardiola has a plethora of attacking options open to him, although Aguero is expected to lead the line as usual alongside Raheem Sterling and one of either Leroy Sane or Riyad Mahrez.

Kevin De Bruyne’s absence in midfield creates a gap for Ilkay Gundogan to come in, while Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany should start with John Stones missing through injury.

The visitors could keep an unchanged side from the one that beat Leicester City last week, with Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu in a front two ahead of Will Hughes and Roberto Pereyra.

Defensive midfield duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue will have their work cut out stemming City’s attack ahead of full-backs Jose Holebas and Daryl Janmaat.

Goalscorer Odds

Argentine ace Aguero is in tip-top form after netting 11 times in 10 matches. Add in his record of 10 goals in six matches against Watford, and you get the feeling he may enjoy this evening’s encounter.

Our traders go 13/5 about him Scoring First, 8/13 Anytime, 14/5 for 2 or More and 11/1 for yet another hat-trick haul at the Etihad. Sterling is next best for City at 21/20 Anytime.

Mahrez is an interesting outsider having netted in all bar two of his appearances against the Hornets. He’s 7/5 Anytime or 9/2 to Score Last.

Watford may create chances on the counter-attack, but they’ll need to take them. Deulofeu was super-clinical against Cardiff City last month and is 9/2 to nab another goal on the break this time.
