Celtic v Rangers betting tips: One hand on the title or race back on?

Neil Lennon - Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month

The top-two in the Scottish Premiership come to blows this weekend, with Rangers travelling across Glasgow to face their biggest and fiercest rivals, Celtic.

Before it kicks off, there are 10 points separating the two sides at the top with eight games left. The Bhoys in red hot form, while The Gers are going through a late season blip.

Can Steven Gerrard fire up his Rangers side to close the gap at the top of the league? Or will Neil Lennon notch another Old Firm win? We’ve previewed the clash with tips offered too.

Match Odds

Celtic’s adaption to life under Lennon has been seamless. They’ve won three of the four he’s been in charge of, and their form makes them favourite for this clash at 4/5.

Form goes out of the window when it comes to derby days. Rangers haven’t been firing on all cylinders recently, but they’re more than capable. Gerrard’s side are 18/5 to grab another win.

There’s no been a draw in the last three Old Firm meetings, with the last stalemate coming in December 2017. We’ve got 5/2 on a draw.

Talking Tactics

Odsonne Edouard has a sensational record against Rangers, bagging three in three. Lennon will be looking at the young Frenchman to break open the Gers defence.

Oliver Burke, James Forrest and Scott Sinclair are likely to be sat just behind Edouard, with Sinclair and Burke providing width down the wings to spread the play. Forrest could split the Gers defence open with his direct approach, passing ability and eye for a goal.

Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic could feature after returning to the squad, though they’re likely to play a bit-part role from the bench. Scott Brown and Callum McGregor are expected to be the midfield enforcers.

Alfredo Morelos has been Rangers’ most potent attacking threat this season with 17 league goals. He’s never put one past Celtic, but with fire in the belly to hunt down the Bhoys for the title, the Colombian could break his duck.

Andy Halliday is likely to replace Borna Barisic at left back, after the Croatian defender picked up a knock while on international duty.

Ryan Jack grabbed the winner in December’s fixture, but could drop to the bench in favour of the more physical Ross McCrorie to ensure Gers won’t get overrun in the middle of the park.

Goalscorer Odds

Edouard’s form and goalscoring record means he’s the front runner to grab the opening goal of the derby. The Frenchman is 10/3 to score first, or 7/1 if you fancy him to bag at least a couple.

Morelos will hope to finally net against the Bhoys, and add to his 17 league goals. He’s 11/2 to break the deadlock, or 9/4 to grab his first derby day goal anytime.

Burke has been a revelation since his loan move from West Brom. The Scottish wing-wizard has four league goals, but he’s a 6/4 shot as an anytime goalscorer.

Fancy Jack to do the damage against Celtic again? He’s a 10/1 anytime scorer.
