Schalke v Man City tips: City slickers to put on a show?

Man City betting news

Manchester City travel to Gelsenkirchen tonight in the hope of grabbing an invaluable away win.

City are coming off the back of a win over Newport County in the FA Cup but also have the small matter of the League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

The home side have been struggling in the league, and are searching for their first win in five games in all competitions.

But strange things can happen on Champions League nights, which sets this one up to be an intriguing match-up in Germany…

Match Odds

Manchester City are the 2/7 heavy favourites to win after 13 victories on the spin in all comps.

Before battering Chelsea 6-0 earlier this month, they beat Burton 9-0 and Burnley 5-0 in January.

City to win with over 3.5 goals in the game is at 15/8.

Schalke did win two home group games in the Champions league this season and start at 10/1 to bag a vital win.

Talking Tactics

Rabbi Matondo could line-up for Schalke against his former club tonight.

The 18-year-old Welshman left City for the Bundesliga side in January and has already played 104 minutes of top-flight football.

Gaffer Domenico Tedesco will have to decide whether to persist with 4-2-3-1 or revert to a 3-5-2 he played in the last Champions League game against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Pep Guardiola may not have either of Benjamin Mendy or Vincent Kompany available for this one. This is after both John Stones and Gabriel Jesus being ruled out of the tonight’s clash.

Nicolas Otamendi could line up alongside Aymeric Laporte in defence – but it’s always hard to second guess Pep.

Goalscoring odds

Schalke have had a soft underbelly this season and have conceded at least once in 13 of their last 15 fixtures.

Sergio Aguero to score 2 or more goals is 12/5 with Raheem Sterling first goalscorer at 9/2.

Kevin De Bruyne to bag his first goal of this year’s competition is 5/2 anytime.

Mark Uth to score is 4/1 and Matondo is 13/2 to strike a blow to his former employers.
