Paul Townend is ready to go at Fairyhouse and Naas

I am at Fairyhouse on Saturday where I start the day with Tens Or Better (1.40) for Pat Fahy.

She is dropping back to two miles which might be on the sharp side for her but I was happy with her run at Naas the last day. If she can improve any bit from that it will put her on the premises.

She was a bumper winner and there have been a couple of winners from that race so I think she has her chance here.

It doesn’t look the greatest of races although there are a couple with place form but if she can build on what she did last time she can be thereabouts.

Eight And Bob (2.50) was a winner at Fairyhouse over three miles and drops back to two and a half now.

He is creeping up the weights every run but is running consistently well. This is probably his toughest task yet but he is improving away and if he can keep that up he has a lovely light racing weight.

The top horse Chatham Street Lad has gone up a lot in the weights too. We are getting a lot of weight off him and have sneaked in at the bottom with 10st 1lb.

Rathvinden (4.00) lacks a recent run but he is a horse with huge ability. He has been hard to train all his life.

He is taking on race fit horses here which isn’t ideal but it looks a nice place to start. He definitely has the class but lack of a run is probably a worry.

On Sunday I go to Naas where I ride Fast Buck (1.30) in the first.

We were disappointed to get beat with him first time out at Cork but the form of that race is working out really well with Fakir D’Oudaries having gone on and franked the form since.

So this looks a nice opportunity for Fast Buck. If he can reproduce the Cork form that should be good enough to be honest. The ground will be quicker at Naas than it was at Cork but shouldn’t inconvenience him.

Orion D’Aubrelle (2.30) is a very frustrating horse. He has disappointed since winning at Listowel in the summer and would have to up his game again here. We will have to see where we are going with him after this.

Prince D’Aubrelle (3.00) is a bit like Rathvinden in the sense that he has been hard to train and keep sound. He was entitled to need the run in Punchestown the last day. We think that will bring him on a good bit.

This is no easy task but he is a horse with huge ability that can only improve. He will need to to get involved in a hot race.

Cadmium (3.35) only faces three opponents and it probably looks between himself and Doctor Phoenix. They finished upsides each other in a handicap at Leopardstown last time.

We had a lot of weight that day. He is a novice but has plenty of experience. He jumps well, two miles won’t be problem and he has a good solid chance.

They are good horses but maybe we are less exposed and may be open to a bit more improvement than the rest of them.

Fast Buck is probably my best chance of the two days. It could just turn out he ran into a very good horse when beaten at Cork.
