Noel Fehily goes at Kempton and Fontwell as recovery continues

Published:

I am pleased to be back riding again after some time off. I am fully fit and good to go again. There should be plenty to look forward to.

It will be my busiest weekend for a while with four rides at Kempton on Saturday and four at Fontwell on Sunday.

It’s nice to be in action again at a good Saturday meeting and I start with Bags Groove (1.50) in the Pendil.

He is back to two and a half miles here. He had a very good start to the season and won the Rising Stars at Wincanton and won well at Huntingdon.

He was probably a bit flat when he ran Kempton on Boxing Day which came a bit soon after the other races. I would be hoping for a better show from him.

If he can return to his Rising Stars or Huntingdon form he will go very close. He had looked very good up to Kempton.

I don’t know a lot about Red Force One (2.25) who makes his debut over hurdles for Paul Nicholls.

He was an okay Flat horse but I presume Harry Cobden will have had first choice.

Hopefully he will make a nice jumper.

Daphne Du Clos (3.00) was my first ride back after appendix surgery but is probably in the deep end here. Scarlet Dragon won the race she was in and they meet again.

I would expect her to improve for her Huntingdon run but I expect the ground will be too quick for her. As long as she runs a nice race I will be happy with her.

I have won four out of five on Mister Burbidge (4.10) which is not a bad record. He is probably high enough in the handicap but he will like the ground and if he ran into the money that would be a good run.

Sunday

I go to Fontwell where I start with If The Cap Fits (2.50) in the National Spirit Hurdle. He won at Ascot and then contested the Christmas Hurdle.

He ran okay at Kempton but he didn’t run as well as I expected. I suppose he wasn’t beaten that far by Buveur D’Air and the horse behind him Global Citizen has won since so the race has worked out okay.

He has had a good freshen up and the trip won’t be a problem. I would be hoping he will go very well.

Miss Molly Mae (3.25) has ability but is hard to train and has had plenty of problems. She had her first run back a while ago. If everything went right for her she would run well but she has had her issues.

Dandelo Du Gite (3.55) is a horse we thought had a lot of ability early on.

I won a bumper on him round Fontwell and thought he would be a good horse but he has not yet proved quite as good over hurdles as I expected him to be. He is capable of his mark.

Jeremiah James (4.55) ran okay in a Wincanton bumper. He is no superstar but capable of winning a small bumper somewhere.
