Newcastle United v Burnley tips: Burnley to clip Magpies’ wings?

Published:
Sean Dyche

Burnley head to St. James’ Park tonight looking to maintain their unbeaten run in 2019 and shoot further up the league.

But Newcastle could leap-frog the Clarets tonight and have a new talisman in their ranks.

Miguel Almiron was on fire against Huddersfield Town last weekend – but will that be enough to beat a beefed up Burnley side?

We’ve got all the key odds and rundown of the clash right here…

Match Odds

Burnley find themselves in their best form of the season and have just beaten title contenders Tottenham Hotspur.

Sean Dyche’s men are 11/4 to grab another win. You can also find them at 7/10 on the Double Chance to preserve their eight-match unbeaten league run.

The signing of Almiron has injected a little more positivity around St. James’ Park right now. The Toon are 11/10 to win and continue this feel-good factor.

Talking Tactics

The home side could welcome back Jonjo Shelvey back into the fold. But you can expect Rafael Benitez to keep with the side who beat Huddersfield.

This would mean a back-three, flanked by wing-backs Matt Ritchie and DeAndre Yedlin.

Isaac Hayden could retain a centre-midfield berth, with Almiron and Ayoze Perez in wide positions.

Burnley have found a prolific front-line in Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes. Behind them is a hardworking quartet of Jeff Hendrick, Ashley Westwood, Jack Cork and Dwight McNeil.

Dyche might opt for either Johann Berg Gudmundsson or Robbie Brady however.

Goalscorer Odds

Salomon Rondon plundered in the Magpies first goal against Huddersfield on Saturday. He’s 10/3 to open the scoring here.

Almiron was a real livewire on his home debut, the Paraguayan is 11/4 to bag his first goal for his new club.

The attacking force that is Wood and Barnes are 12/5 and 2/1 to chop through the Toon’s defence respectively.

Ben Mee can be a threat from set-pieces and could be a shout at 18/1 to net anytime.
