Chelsea v Tottenham Tips: Spurs to heap the pressure on Sarri?

| 26.02.2019

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been seeing plenty of each other this season. This is the fourth meeting between the pair since November.

Spurs saw the Blues off with a 3-1 win at Wembley in the Premier League, before being narrowly edged-out in the pair’s Carabao Cup semi-final.

With pressure on home boss Maurizio Sarri, can the Italian edge out Tottenham here? Or will the visitors deliver a hammer blow to his hopes of keeping the job?

Match Odds

The Blues saw off Malmo in the Europa League, but their domestic form has been decidedly poor.

They’ve lost three of the last four Prem games, and tumbled out of the FA Cup at home to Manchester United. That said, they gave Pep Guardiola’s men a tough game at Wembley on Sunday.

Ahead of kick-off, Chelsea are 6/5 favourites for victory. Meanwhile, a Spurs win is 21/10, with the Draw at 12/5.

Tottenham have won five of their last eight away games, and could edge this. We go 10/1 for the visitors to pull off a 2-1 win. Meanwhile, a simple Over 2.5 Goals is up for grabs at 3/4.

Talking Tactics

It’s not often the choice of keeper is the major talking point pre-match! But the exchange between Sarri and stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Carabao Cup Final was headline-grabbing stuff.

Chances are the Blues boss could show his iron fist by sidelining the sulky Spaniard for Willy Caballero.

Outfield, it’s likely to be 4-3-3 for the hosts. They’ll need a mobile backline to deal with the fit-again Harry Kane, so Antonio Rudiger could replace David Luiz at centre-back.

Spurs are likely to go 4-3-1-2 with Kane and the on-fire Son Heung-min up front. Christian Eriksen is likely to be the supplier behind the front pairing, though he’s also a goal threat – with five strikes in the Prem since mid-December.

After a less-than-stellar run, Kieran Trippier could find himself edged out by the all-action Serge Aurier.

Goalscorer Odds

Chelsea hopes will lie with the H-brigade. Eden Hazard is 6/4 to add to his season’s tally of 15. Meanwhile, new boy Gonzalo Higuain is 7/5 to get on the scoresheet.

Kane’s back – and he’s already back up and running. The England ace notched on his return against Burnley. He’s 6/4 Anytime, and 5/1 to bag Two or More Goals for the fifth time this term.

Meanwhile, an Eriksen special could also be a popular pick. In top form at present, the Dane is 4/1 to delight the away fans with a goal Anytime.
