Chelsea v Man Utd tips: Blues to beat United in fourth straight FA Cup meeting?

Published:

Seven FA Cup quarter-final places have been decided, and attention now turns to Stamford Bridge where Chelsea and Manchester United battle for the final slot.

United are looking to bounce back from their Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, with Chelsea looking to build on their 2-1 away win over Malmo Thursday night.

It’s a repeat of last year’s final, where Chelsea came out 1-0 winners. This year, it could be both sides best chance of a trophy, but who will come out on top and make it to the last eight of the FA Cup?

Match Odds

Chelsea will have the backing of the Stamford Bridge faithful which could help their chances of winning. They’re 19/20 favourites to qualify for the next round.

Injuries may hamper Manchester United which makes them underdogs with us. They’re out at 27/10 to beat the Blues, something they’ve not done at Stamford Bridge since 2012.

A draw would take the match to extra time and penalties rather than a replay, and we’ve priced the draw after 90 minutes at 5/2.

Talking Tactics

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has stuck with his preferred 4-3-3 formation through thick and thin this season, and he’s likely to stick with it again.

Left-back Marcos Alonso was rested against Malmo, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek missing out through a back injury. However, they’re likely to return to the squad.

Olivier Giroud started up front for the Blues Thursday night, and bagged himself a goal. Despite that, it’s expected that he’ll move aside for Juventus loanee Gonzalo Higuain.

Manchester United’s interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered a couple of injury worries against PSG midweek.

They lost both Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to groin and hamstring injuries respectively, and will join Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia on the sidelines.

It’s expected that Romelu Lukaku will take Martial’s slot and face his former side, with Alexis Sanchez filling the boots of Lingard.

Goalscorer Odds

Higuain will be looking to notch his first in the FA Cup, and he’s favourite alongside Eden Hazard to break the deadlock at 4/1. They’re both fancied anytime too, with the Argentine 11/8 to score during the 90, and the Belgian priced at 7/5.

Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw at the Bridge earlier this season. He’s 33/1 to do the same again.

Lukaku will be looking to silence the home fans at Stamford Bridge. He’s 13/2 to score first, or 11/5 anytime.

Paul Pogba has been given a new lease of life under Solskjaer. He’s scoring plenty recently, including two against Fulham in their last visit to South-West London. Our traders have priced him at 21/10 to score anytime.
