Back to the Polls? 2019 General Election odds cut to just 13/8

Following a dramatic 48 hours which has seen defections on both sides of the House of Commons, our traders have taken the scissors to odds of a 2019 General Election.

Having been a 7/4 shot on Monday, those odds have now been snipped to just 13/8 for a General Election before the year is out.

The most likely month for that election? In a poetic twist, that shares its name with the current Prime Minister!

Indeed, a May 2019 General Election is priced up at just 4/1, with local elections also taking place in that period. That’s followed by June at 8/1, while it’s 12s for a return to the ballot box as early as April.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “A 2019 General Election is looking increasingly likely with MPs quitting left, right and centre.”
