Atletico Madrid v Juventus tips: Ronaldo or Griezmann to decide it?

Atletico Madrid and Juventus both feel like this could be their year in the Champions League.

They’ve lost two of the last four Champions League Finals between them. They’ll believe they have enough know-how to take that final step this time around. But there’s only room for one of them in the quarter-finals.

And with these sides arguably possessing the two best defensive units in Europe, it could be a very tense affair…

Juve are narrow favourites at 7/4, with Atletico just behind as a 9/5 shot.

The draw is going for 19/10, with 11/2 about a 0-0 stalemate.

Talking Tactics

Chances could be hard to come by here, with both sides likely to keep things tight.

Diego Costa may not be fit to start for the hosts, which means Alvaro Morata should line up alongside Antoine Griezmann.

Atleti will look to get Griezmann on the ball around the box to help them take a lead to Italy. But that’s easier said than done, with Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci marshalling the Juventus defence.

At the other end, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala should line up either side of Mario Mandzukic. Mandzukic against Diego Godin promises to be a titanic battle. If the Croatian can hold the ball up and bring in the wide men, the Old Lady could cause serious damage.

Ronaldo has 22 goals in 29 games against Atletico. He’s 10/3 favourite to open the scoring here, with Griezmann next at 4/1.

Mandzukic and Morata will both be lining up against their former sides. They’re rated 11/4 and 13/5 respectively to score anytime.

With five goals in the Champions League this term, Dybala is another one to watch at 11/4 to score.
