Monday Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Vela to play second fiddle to Suarez at Barca?

Only ten days remain in this year’s January transfer window, and with injuries stacking up for some clubs, moves need to be made to strengthen for the business end of the season.
We’re looking at some of the biggest transfer rumours from the past 24 hours.
Barca look to Vela?
After being linked with every other striker under the sun, Barcelona are linked with yet another one and this time it’s Los Angeles FC’s Mexican international Carlos Vela.
Former Arsenal man Vela was the first designated player for the MLS newbies, but is refusing to rule out a move to Barcelona if the opportunity presented itself, saying “I’m relaxed, working on the preseason and the most important thing is to be happy in the place you are. In the future we’ll see what happens.”
Barcelona are looking for a back-up to Luis Suarez after allowing Munir El Haddadi to join Sevilla earlier in the transfer window. Kevin-Prince Boateng has also been linked.
Ciao, Emerson!
After signing for Chelsea in the 2018 January window, Emerson Palmieri looks set to be leaving the West London club for a return to Italian football.
Juventus are reportedly looking to secure a cut-priced permanent deal for the left-back has only featured 18 times in all competitions in the year he’s been in England.
Emerson could be used to offset the rumoured £15m cost of signing Gonzalo Higuain.
Hoedt due to set sail from Saints?
The lesser spotted Wesley Hoedt is set to end his short stint on the south coast after not playing a game since Mark Hughes got the boot.
Celta Vigo are looking to tie Hoedt down until the end of the season, with a view to making the transfer permanent depending on his performances during the loan period.
Hoedt made 41 Premier League appearances in his time at the Saints.
Lord Nelson up for Royals relegation battle?
Norwich City’s out of favour striker Nelson Oliveira hasn’t made an appearance in any competition this campaign, and his time in East Anglia looks to be coming to an end.
Reading have been linked with the Portuguese striker for over a year, but after being excluded by Canaries boss Daniel Farke, a loan until the end of the season is now looking likely.
Royals boss Jose Gomes has spoken about his admiration for Oliveira after their 2-1 defeat to Derby, stating “In Portugal, at one time, everyone thought he could be our first striker in the national team, but this season he’s not playing.”
