Monday transfer rumour round-up: Ex-Red Babel to join Fulham?

Ryan Babel

We’re only halfway through the mid-season window, and there’s a feeling that some big deals are still to come.

There could plenty of comings and goings over the next few days. Here’s what’s doing the rounds on the rumour mill today…

Babel to Fulham’s rescue?

In a bid to avoid relegation, Fulham could be about to turn to former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel.

The Dutchman is currently playing in Turkey with Besiktas, but has been linked with a six-month return to the Premier League. He had his detractors during his time at Anfield, but Babel has scored goals in the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Eredivisie.

He also boasts 54 international caps to his name, and would bring a welcome burst of pace and presence to a lacklustre Fulham attack. We’re 1/3 about the West London side going down this season.

Llorente or Morata to Barcelona?

They may be top of La Liga, but Barcelona are apparently concerned about a lack of attacking options after Munir El Haddadi joined Sevilla this month.

Luis Suarez is the Catalan giants’ only recognised centre-forward, and now both Tottenham Hotspur’s Fernando Llorente and Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata have been linked.

Llorente is old but cheap, while Morata is young but expensive. Which will Barca go for?

Monaco to sign the Bats-man?

Chelsea remain one of the most talked about clubs in this window, and it appears that won’t change anytime soon.

It seems Blues forward Michy Batshuayi is not the answer to Maurizio Sarri’s striker problems. The Belgian is poised to join Monaco on a loan, after a difficult spell in Spain with Valencia.

Batshuayi has been linked with a number of clubs this month, but now Monaco appear to be leading the chase.

Chelsea target Piatek off to Spain?

While Chelsea and Sarri aren’t keen on Batshuayi, reports had linked club and manager with Krzysztof Piatek. The 23-year-old has scored goals for fun with Genoa in Serie A this term, but now it appears Real Madrid are in the running.

Los Blancos have seen Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema fail to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo up front. The duo have struggled with injuries too, which appears to have forced Madrid’s hand in looking at Poland international Piatek.

Cardiff move for Sala still on?

There haven’t been too many big Premier League moves so far, but Cardiff are still chasing £18m striker Emiliano Sala.

The Argentine hitman has bagged 13 goals for Nantes this season, and if a deal is done it would break Cardiff’s record transfer, which stands at £11m for Gary Medel in 2013. The Welsh side are third-favourites to be relegated this season at 8/11.
