Man City v Wolves Tips: An Eti-bad night for City’s title hopes?

Published:

After winning their last two home matches by an aggregate score of 16-0, Manchester City may find things slightly tougher against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have taken points off City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur already this season.

Another upset at the Etihad would seriously dent the Cityzens’ title hopes, and leave Liverpool dreaming of a first league triumph since 1990.

Match odds

Pep Guardiola’s men have been imperious at home this term and are odds-on favourites at 2/11 to make it 33 points from 36 at the Etihad this season.

The visitors are 14/1 to spring a shock in front of the Sky Sports cameras, while it’s 6/1 about the Draw.

A repeat of the 1-1 scoreline at Molineux in August is chalked up at 12/1, with Wolves or Draw on the Double Chance priced up at 15/4 by our traders.

Talking Tactics

Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t started a Premier League home match since May 2018. That should change tonight, with the Belgian set to slot in alongside Fernandinho and David Silva.

The 27-year-old showed last week what City have been missing this season, albeit against second-rate opposition in Burton Albion.

Elswhere, Sergio Aguero will hope to be fit enough to start in between Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, while Fabian Delph returns from suspension to challenge the left-back spot.

The visitors went toe-to-toe with tonight’s hosts in August, and Espirito Santo will set up his side to have another proper go at the champions this evening.

That should mean Raul Jiminez leading the line in-front of Adam Traore and Diogo Jota, with Joao Moutinho holding it all together behind.

Discipline is the order of the day for the Molineux side, who will have to pick and choose their attacking opportunities.

Goalscorer odds

Aguero is by no means certain to start the match but remains the likeliest goalscorer with our traders. He’s 3/1 to Score First and 4/5 Anytime.

Sterling has seven goals at the Etihad this term and is 11/10 to net again here, while Silva is a 9/5 chance in one of his most prolific goalscoring seasons to date.

Wolves will be looking towards 4/1 shot Jiminez and 6/1 chance Jota to do some damage, although it was Willy Boly who netted when the sides last met.

The centre-half is quoted at 14/1 to make it two in two against City this season.
