KING PIN: Can Klitschko compete with new wave of heavyweights?

When Vladimir Klitschko lay sprawled out on the canvas in April 2017 it looked like the end of the great man.
He’d just been beaten by Anthony Joshua and with it he lost his IBO belt too.
An official date of retirement was confirmed in August 2017 and he hasn’t been seen in a boxing ring since.
But now reports suggest Dr Steelhammer is set to make a return.
A fight against heavyweight star Dillian Whyte is being talked up, with the British fighter claiming he will ‘definitely knock him out’.
Whyte was positioning himself for a bout with AJ, but will find it hard to turn down Klitschko.
Whereas some fighters will relish the return of the former unified champ – is it really a good idea?
Klitschko may have been spurred on by watching Tyson Fury’s own comeback in 2018.
Fury has now put himself in the title picture after a battling draw with Deontay Wilder in December.
But at 42-years-old, Klitschko is no spring chicken.
The Body Snatcher looks his most likely challenger if he does decide to put the gloves back on.
Could a rematch against Alexander Povetkin or someone with a point to prove like Joseph Parker or Luis Ortiz be better suited?
The division has moved on now, with a top-three emerging of Joshua, Wilder and Fury with Whyte and Kubrat Pulev closing in.
But the big hitter still has an aura of invincibility around him and if he can see off Whyte or whoever he faces, then a title shot might not be too far away.
