January sales: Who could be on the move this month?

Published:
Callum Wilson

With the January transfer window about to open, managers up and down the country will be looking to strengthen their teams.

The right additions could make all the difference in the second half of the campaign. But who’ll be on the move?

We’ve taken a look at the players who’ll be attracting plenty of interest…

Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson’s form this season was noticed by Gareth Southgate, who called the Bournemouth striker up to the England squad for the first time.

Southgate isn’t the only one paying attention, with Chelsea 2/1 to bring the 26-year-old in. Everton are also said to be monitoring Wilson closely.

Nathaniel Clyne

It’s been a year to forget for Nathaniel Clyne. The right-back fell behind Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez in the Liverpool pecking order while he was out with injury.

He’s been involved over the hectic festive period, but it’s hard to see him getting regular starts at Anfield. He’s 4/1 to join Cardiff City, with Leicester City and Fulham also linked with the 27-year-old.

Cesc Fabregas

There aren’t many better passers around than Cesc Fabregas. However, has he still got the engine to play at the highest level? He’s only made one league start for Chelsea this year.

AC Milan looked like front-runners for his signature, but Fenerbache have reportedly entered the race.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Another player who could leave Stamford Bridge, there won’t be any shortage of suitors for Loftus-Cheek.

The young midfielder showed what he can do on loan at Crystal Palace last season and at the World Cup. He could push for another loan deal to get more playing time. We go 10/3 that he joins Bournemouth.

Ever Banega

With doubts over the futures of Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil, Arsenal could look to bring in some midfield creativity. Enter Ever Banega.

Unai Emery already knows the Argentine well from his time at Sevilla. He’s understood to have an £18m release clause, which should be well within Arsenal’s reach. There’s 7/4 about a reunion with Emery.

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic has been linked with virtually every big club in Europe since breaking into the Borussia Dortmund side. But it looks like Chelsea could be closing in on his signature.

The Blues have made an offer worth around £50m for the USA international. Recent reports suggest Dortmund want the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United to get involved too to start a bidding war. If Pulisic does join Chelsea, it’ll raise questions about the long-term future of Eden Hazard.

Abdoulaye Doucoure

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen to bring Doucoure back to his homeland, but Watford will fight to keep him. Everton are also linked with the goalscoring midfielder.

He came off the bench to score a late equaliser against Newcastle United last weekend, which will push his price tag a little higher.
