Arsenal v Man Utd tips: Who wins battle of FA Cup heavyweights?

Published:
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man United

It’s the battle of the FA Cup’s two most successful sides tonight as Arsenal welcome Manchester United to the Emirates.

Unai Emery’s Gunners put in a professional performance to win away at Blackpool in round three, while the Red Devils downed Reading at home.

That win over the Royals was the fifth in what is now a seven-match winning run for new United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Will the Norwegian make it eight on the spin? Or will Emery’s hosts give the Baby Faced Assassin a reality check?

Match odds

Our traders really can’t split this one. Arsenal hold slight favouritism at 29/20, but United’s form has them right in the hunt at 8/5.

After a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in December, a second successive draw between the sides is 13/5. Each of the last three meetings between the sides has seen over 2.5 goals, and there’s 4/7 about three goals or more tonight.

Talking tactics

The big question tonight is does Emery play Mesut Ozil? The German has endured a difficult relationship with the new Arsenal boss throughout the campaign.

Arsenal played a much-changed side in the third round win over Blackpool, but we should expect a much stronger XI from the North Londoners tonight. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette should both feature.

As for United, Solskjaer has utilised Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to great effect in the league.

But the Norwegian started Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the win over Reading, and has suggested that the Chilean may play a role tonight. Arsenal fans will also be delighted that Sergio Romero, and not David de Gea is likely to start in goal for United tonight.

Goalscorer odds

Aubameyang has already fired in 16 goals this season, and the Gabon hotshot is 4/1 favourite to score first tonight.

There’s 9/2 about Lacazette to break the deadlock, while 5/1 says Lukaku puts United 1-0 up tonight.

The in-form Paul Pogba is 7/1, while Ozil, should he start, is available at 8s. Shokdran Mustafi scored first in that December draw, however, and is 25/1 to repeat the feat.

In the anytime market, Aubameyang is 5/4 to net at any point, ahead of Lacazette at 13/10, Lukaku at 8/5 and Rashford at 13/8.
