Paul Townend previews his rides at Fairyhouse and Navan

I am not as busy as I was last weekend but I have a couple of nice rides all the same to look forward to at Fairyhouse and Navan.

I start by riding Dunvegan for Pat Fahy in the 1.50 Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse. Pat’s horses are in good form.

Castlegrace Paddy had a good win in the Hilly Way Chase so hopefully this lad can do the business again. He has the experience of a run over hurdles already, coming second to Pallasator that day.

That is very solid form. He is a winner of two bumpers and placed twice in good bumpers as well. I am very hopeful of a big run from him and getting the weekend off to a good start.

I ride Ar Eagla Na Heagla in a two mile handicap at 2.25. He won two runs ago and got 5lbs for that. He ran well to a point over two miles four on his last run at Punchestown so the drop back here will definitely suit him.

Putting his best foot forward again, I think he can get involved. It is a very competitive race and you can make a case for a lot of horses in it.

I ride Brosna George at 3.00 for Arthur Moore. He won well at Down Royal and I thought he could win again when I got off him that day.

He was unlucky to fall last time out. I wasn’t riding him that day but if that hasn’t left a mark, I think he can be involved again as there’s still more improvement in him.

Onto Sunday I go to Navan, where I start with Getareason for Willie Mullins in the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at 12.30. He looked good when he won in Tramore and unlucky when finishing third at Listowel.

He looked a winner going down to the last and just made a bad mistake. Unfortunately he flopped badly on two runs since then so he needs to recapture his best form. This is a hot looking race so if he does bounce back to his best he could be involved.

I ride Orion D’Aubrelle over hurdles in a two and half mile handicap at 1.00. He’s a frustrating type. He has ability but has disappointed us on numerous occasions.

He won well at Listowel over fences but then disappointed at Punchestown where his jumping wasn’t great he didn’t jump great. Like I said, he has the ability but he’s just not the most consistent of horses.

My last ride is Tyrrell’s Success, a horse I know pretty well. I actually won a bumper on him a long time ago. He’s a horse I’ve been keeping an eye on.

He’s not very well treated in this race with the conditions but he’s been running well without winning lately and hopefully he can put it altogether on Sunday. He’s one to keep on the right side going forward.
