Noel Fehily’s aiming to end 2018 with a winner this weekend

A delayed flight to Ireland due to fog at Bristol airport meant I missed a winner in Malinas Jack at Leopardstown but was there in time to ride Monalee who ran a good race to finish second in the Savills Chase.

I’m back in England on Saturday and Sunday where I hope I can sign off 2018 with a winner.

I will be at Doncaster on Saturday where I ride Seven De Baune (12.20) for Ian Williams in the novices hurdle.

He won very well at Ludlow last time. I think he is quite a nice horse and is improving. I think he will go very well.

Battle Of Shiloh (1.30) has sheepskin cheekpieces on for the first time.

I thought he ran okay the last day but he has been crying out for a bit of headgear and I think he could make big improvement and he will stay as well. It was also his first start in a year when he was third at Ascot last month.

I’ve never ridden Sister Sibyl (2.05) who was second around Cheltenham on her second last start. It looks like there could be a couple of others in the race with better form.

I have two rides at Taunton on Sunday starting with Mantovani (12.45) in the opener.

He ran okay at Exeter last time to be third to Fanfan Du Seuil who went on to finish second in a race at Cheltenham next start.

The sharper tracker and better ground should suit him so he could run okay again.

I know very little about It’s Fine Wine (1.15). He ran encouragingly on what was only his third career start last time but will need to take another step forward in this stronger race.

Of all my weekend rides Seven De Baune would definitely be my best chance. He could be a smart horse.
