Noel Fehily discusses his rides for the weekend

I had a winning start to the weekend when I picked up the spare ride on The Worlds End as replacement for the injured Adrian Heskin who was injured on Thursday.

I spoke to Adrian beforehand who said to be fairly positive on him and his jumping was really good. It’s unfortunate Adrian had to miss out because he had done all the schooling.

It’s hard having to miss these sort of opportunities and I’ve been in his situation myself but I know he will bounce back.

It was a shame Singlefarmpayment could not make it a double. He managed to hit the front after the last but lost out in a photo-finish to Cogry who got back up to win by a head.

Hopefully I can have more success at Cheltenham today. Doux Pretender (2.30) ran well at Ascot the last day.

I am hoping he might progress again from that even to have a decent chance. It’s probably as good a chance as he is going to get to win a Grade 2 race.

He got up to win in the last strides to score at Ascot and is stepping up in distance here but I don’t expect that to be a problem for him. He stays well and if anything the trip might help him.

Summerville Boy (3.05) gets another chance to show what he can do in the International Hurdle.

His run in the Fighting Fifth behind Buveur d’Air, Samcro and Vision Des Flos, who runs today, was a complete head-scratcher.

Nothing has really come to light. It wasn’t anywhere near his running.

The winner was exceptional on the day probably but at the same time I don’t think Summerville Boy ran his race which is probably why he is out again quickly.

It didn’t seem him at Newcastle and he didn’t fire at all. We will be hoping for a better run from him so we can put the Fighting Fifth down as a blip.

The Champion Hurdle has been his target but we need to find out where we are going which is why he is out again.

I would hope he has a good chance. He has run well round Cheltenham a couple of times so the track will suit him a bit better than Newcastle.

On Sunday I am going to Southwell for three rides. Dalaman (12.40) fell at the first last time when he got cannoned into. It’s hard to know what to expect because he needs to jump around but he goes well enough to have a chance.

Moayadd (1.10) is an ex-Flat horse and may be best watched first time over hurdles.

Monbeg Zena (2.50) is quite a nice mare who jumps well and has been doing everything right. I think she will have a decent chance.

Noel
