Derby v Nottingham Forest tips: Honours even in East Midlands derby?
The Championship is wide open this season and Derby County and Nottingham Forest both have their eyes on a play-off spot at least.
Derby currently sit fifth, two points above Forest in seventh. But they’ll climb up to third if they win tonight’s East Midlands derby.
With vital points and local pride on the line, we could be in for a treat tonight. Before it gets underway, cast your eye over all the key odds right here…
We’ve got 13/5 on Forest beating their rivals for the first time since the Dougie Freedman era.
But two of the last three meetings between these sides have ended in a stalemate. And neither side will want to give an inch with the table looking so tight. There’s 12/5 about the draw.
It would be a surprise if Frank Lampard makes too many changes from the Derby side that beat Wigan Athletic last time out.
The midfield of Tom Huddlestone, Mason Mount and Craig Bryson will look to dictate the game. But they’ll have to work hard to break down Forest.
Aitor Karanka could bring in Adlene Guedioura and Gil Dias to freshen things up. Guedioura’s steel could be vital in a tense derby. And Dias will look to make things happen in wide areas, while still offering protection to his full-back.
Jack Marriott netted the only goal in Derby’s win over Wigan. We make him 4/1 favourite to open the scoring here.
And while Lewis Grabban is the Championship’s top scorer with 14 goals, he’s only the third likeliest anytime scorer at 17/10.
