Dan Skelton and his team eye up a festive rest before Boxing Day

We’ve only got the one runner on Saturday and then obviously we have a break until Boxing Day.

All the attention is on Mohaayed in the Betfair Exhange Trophy at Ascot at 3.35. He is a Cheltenham Festival winner obviously.

The weights have gone up quite a lot and we’ve got quite a bit of weight but I’m not sure that’s such a worry in this race this year just because of how the race looks.

Obviously I’ve a lot of respect for horses carrying a lot less weight but I am very happy with Mohaayed .

I’ve put a pair of cheek pieces on to see if it sharpens him up mid-race.

I’ve not been disappointed with either of his runs this year. He stayed on well in the Greatwood last time and I hope he can be competitive again.

This time of year we try and give the team a break to have a peaceful Christmas. Then Boxing Day is going to be busy.

We won the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby last year and we would love to do the same again this year with Captain Chaos.

We always look forward to the Christmas period; it’s always a lot of fun and hopefully the weather will be kind to us!

January tends not to be as busy with the ground so bad. We use that month to really build up towards the spring.
