Who should Man United start up front in the Derby?

For over a decade under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United ran riot in this fixture. But that’s all changed in the last five years.

The noisy neighbours of Manchester City have turned into the dominant force in the North West.

But after an inconsistent start current United boss Jose Mourinho is sure to be hatching a plan to stop City in their tracks.

One of the crucial decisions he faces will be who starts up front? We take a look at who could lead the line on Sunday.

Romelu Lukaku

This one may seem odd for a player who wasn’t even in the match day squad against Bournemouth last weekend. But this is Manchester United and this is Jose Mourinho.

‘Big Rom’ hasn’t netted in five Premier League games, raising questions over whether he can really do it with one of the Prem’s big boys.

He will provide that bustling threat and can have defenders running scared. But will have to improve on his 16 league goals last campaign if he wants to leave his mark on the club.

Sunday could be the perfect opportunity.

Anthony Martial

There always seem to be talk about Martial’s Red Devils’ future. His current deal only runs until 2019.

A disruptive season last year, this term started in similar fashion for the Frenchman.

But he’s notched five goals in his last four league games. The 22-year-old has started on the left wing in those four games.

Mourinho could elect for a similar formation to the one he used in the win against Bournemouth.

This would see Alexis Sanchez used as the centre-forward but could mean a more fluid front-three where Martial could continue his hot-streak.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford came on early in the second-half and bagged the 92nd minute winner on Saturday.

The England international has played right across the front-line so far this season.

But since his suspension for a red card against Burnley, Rashford has scored three goals in five Prem games.

This has been backed up by his three goals in his last four matches for the Three Lions.

Who will the United boss choose to start the derby? It’s never easy to second guess Mourinho, so Sunday can’t come soon enough.
