Hamilton v Celtic Tips: Hoops set for eight-in-a-row against Accies?

Tom Rogic - Celtic

Celtic may now be top of the Ladbrokes Premiership, but with just goal difference separating them from the chasing pack they’ll be desperate to build a gap.

Facing them are a Hamilton Academical side who’ve endured a bumpy start to the campaign, but look good enough to avoid the stresses of a relegation battle.

Will the visitors leave the Hope CBD Stadium with maximum points, or can Martin Canning’s men spring a surprise?

Match Odds

The Hoops have won eight successive meetings against Hamilton. But it hasn’t all been plain sailing. The last two have been narrow wins – 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.

However, Hamilton have taken just a single point off the top six so far this term. That means Celtic should have enough to win at 1/6. Meanwhile, it’s 6/1 for the Draw and a chunky 20/1 for the Accies to win this fixture for the first time since October 2014.

Recent meetings haven’t been goal-filled affairs. It’s 11/8 for Under 2.5 Goals here, while the hosts are 6/4 on the +2 handicap.

Talking Tactics

Hamilton will probably go 3-5-2, to try and disrupt Celtic’s ball-playing midfielders.

They’re likely to go with pace up top, as most of their forward play will come on the counter-attack. That could mean a strike pairing of Mason Bloomfield and Rakish Bingham.

Celtic are usually a 4-3-2-1 side, with Tom Rogic pulling the strings in that deeper-lying midfield trio, behind Scott Sinclair and James Forrest.

Canning’s men will also have to keep their eye on a pair of talented full-backs, in the form of marauding Kieran Tierney and the slick Mikael Lustig.

Goalscorer Odds

Leigh Griffiths is set to return from injury at New Douglas Park. But having netted just once in eight league games this term, interest in the goalscorer markets might lie elsewhere.

Rogic has netted twice in the Hoops last four league games, and is 7/5 to score Anytime. Three of his previous four goals have broken the deadlock, and the Australian is 9/2 as First Goalscorer here.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s midweek hat-trick hero Forrest is 6/4 to register, and 11/2 to net Two or More Goals.

For the hosts, current top-scorer Mikel Miller is 11/2, with Bloomfield the same price.
