Could Brighton’s Mat Ryan be Man United’s new goalkeeper?

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Mat Ryan could soon be heading north to Old Trafford.

Talk of David De Gea’s Manchester United departure has been rife for many years now (remember the failed Real Madrid fax machine in 2015?).

But it appears United bosses are now ready to swoop for a new man between the sticks.

De Gea’s departure would mean Ryan at 5/1 could suddenly become top of Jose Mourinho’s summer wish-list.

Ryan has impressed since his arrival at The Amex in 2017 and United officials have been keeping a close eye on the Aussie keeper.

De Gea has been named the Red Devils’ Player of the Year for a record four times. And is a firm fans favourite.

But Juventus are now just 6/4 to snare the Spaniard from the red side of Manchester.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “He’s maybe not the name United fans were hoping for, but the latest betting suggests Ryan could soon be replacing De Gea.”

It might not be the world star United fans have become accustomed to, but as they’ve seen first-hand that doesn’t always mean guaranteed success.
