World Grand Prix Tips: We preview tonight’s quarter-final ties

Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson are the star turns as the World Grand Prix rolls onto the quarter-final stage this evening.
Our traders reckon the trio should also make it through to tomorrow night’s semi-finals. We’ve assessed each of their chances below.
Mensur Suljovic v Gerwyn Price (7:15pm)
Is everything falling into place for Mighty Mensur? After starting the tournament as a 20/1 shot, he’s now just 7/1 to walk away with a first major PDC crown.
It’s easy to see why. The Austrian arrowsmith has been imperious on his doubles so far and dropped just a single leg en-route to a 3-0 victory over Ian White last night.
Opponent Price didn’t have to work hard for victory over Steve Beaton. He’s never beaten Suljovic over a longer than six legs distance, either.
The Gentle is 2/5 for success tonight, with 13/5 about a 3-0 victory. He’s 7/2 to be the King of the Oche.
Peter Wright v James Wilson (8:15pm)
Adrian Lewis crumbled when faced with the Lethal Biscuit in the second round. Now Wilson will have to find another gear once more if he’s to beat the back-in-form Wright.
Snakebite only dropped two legs on his way to a 3-0 success over the disappointing Jermaine Wattimena last time out. He’s 2/9 for victory here, against 10/3 for Wilson.
We go 7/4 about a third straight whitewash for the Scotsman, although his opponent is taken to edge the 180 match-up. He’s even-money to hit more than his opponent, who has found the lipstick just three times in two matches.
Daryl Gurney v Gary Anderson (9:15pm)
This match should be the highlight of the evening. Neither man really shone in the second round, so we’re hoping they’ve saved it all up for tonight’s titanic encounter.
Our traders reckon Anderson should prevail at 1/3, although Gurney will fancy his chances at 9/4 after humbling the Flying Scotsman in the Champions League last week.
The pair have flattered to deceive on the 180 count so far. But they should bring out the best in each other here. We go 4/5 about Over 3.5 180s and 9/2 for a Draw in the Most 180s market.
Michael van Gerwen v Dave Chisnall (10:15pm)
Chisnall’s head-to-head record with van Gerwen doesn’t bode well for this contest. The Green Machine has won 20 of their last 21 meetings, with the outlier a draw in the Premier League.
That goes a long way to explaining MVG’s odds of 1/8 this evening, with Chizzy chalked up as a 5/1 shot.
The Englishman has been decent on his doubles this week, though. He could take a set off the tournament favourite at 11/5. Two power scorers are 10/11 to hit Over 8.5 180s combined.
