ITV Racing Tips: Can Stratum come good in Cesarewitch Stakes?
Published:There’s an action-packed day of racing this Saturday, including major contests at both Newbury and York.
Amongst the big contests are a hotly-contested Dewhurst Stakes and the £307,000 Cesarewitch Handicap. We’re dishing out our top tips on all seven of ITV’s live races, so saddle up and read on…
NAP: Stratum – 3:40 Newmarket
Willie Mullins’ charge has handled the step up to Class 2 racing brilliantly – as proven by July’s impressive win in the JLT Cup at Newbury.
The five-year-old has shown consistent progress over the last couple of years, and even placed in a Grade 3 race at Navan in November. And with regular jockey Robert Winston in the saddle once again, Stratum is likely to impress once more as he bids to land the £307,000 pot on offer for this year’s Cesarewitch.
NB: Space Traveller – 2:40 York
Space Traveller has been light-years ahead of the competition in some of his recent victories, winning Class 1 contests at Hamilton and Doncaster at a breeze.
The two-year-old did have one patchy outing on this course last month, but that was up in Group 1 company. Having placed first or second in three of his five outings since July, it’s likely to be a one-off blip for Richard Fahey’s talented runner.
Lively Longshot: Mohawk E/W – 3:00 Newmarket
While Frankie Dettori on firm favourite Too Darn Hot will be extremely tough to beat, Mohawk could certainly give the market leader a good run for its money.
Aiden O’Brien’s charge enjoyed a Group 2 triumph at this course just a fortnight ago in the Royal Lodge Stakes. The Galileo colt chalked up a fairly comfortable victory despite being a fairly distant third in the betting before the race began.
ITV Racing Tips:
