Fulham v Arsenal tips: Can Gunners make leaky hosts pay?

Published:

We’ve a triple header to look forward today this Super Sunday, starting with Arsenal’s trip across the capital to Premier League returnees Fulham.

The Gunners will be looking to make it nine wins on the spin following their comfortable 3-0 success over Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night.

As for the hosts, they’ve collected just two points from a possible 12 and have developed a worrying knack for conceding goals. After seven games they’re 16 goals conceded is a joint-worst in the division.

Can Slavisa Jokanovic’s men turn the tide? Or will Unai Emery’s side plunder in the goals once more?

Match odds

Fulham, who have collected four of their five points this term at Craven Cottage, are the 15/4 outsiders to win this one.

Arsenal on a real run right now, and are odds-on at 8/13, with a draw priced up at 16/5.

Talking tactics

This should be a free-flowing 90 minutes. Both sides like to play slick, passing football and both sides are stronger going forward than they are in defence.

Fulham will need to contain Mesut Ozil. If the German is offered time on the ball, then he’ll dictate the game at his own leisure.

Equally, the hosts need to look for the smart movement of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The latter is fully rested having not travelled to Azerbaijan in midweek.

But in Aleksander Mitrovic, Fulham have a striker who loves a tussle. The Serbian has already scored five times this term, and if he can cause the Arsenal defence to panic, then the hosts have a chance.

Goalscorer odds

Arsenal’s Lacazette and Aubameyang share first goalscorer favouritism at 7/2. The former has looked particularly sharp this season.

Mitrovic is Fulham’s most likely deadlock-breaker at 6/1, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan (who didn’t travel to Azerbaijan for political reasons) is the same price.

Aaron Ramsey is 15/8 anytime, while Danny Welbeck 11/8 with the Englishman likely to make an appearance off the bench.
