Everton could set sights on Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck
Arsenal are in a re-building stage under Unai Emery.
A tough start with losses to both Manchester City and Chelsea made his task look even more daunting, but a run of seven straight wins in all competitions has put a more positive spin on this new era.
The talk around transfers never seems to die though and it’s Danny Welbeck who may be next to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Everton appear to be making a play for the England international.
He is yet to sign a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of this season.
And despite Emery saying he is happy with how Welbeck is working they seem no closer to agreeing an extension.
The 27-year-old was on Everton’s radar last summer and after plundering four goals already this season it seems the Merseysiders are back in the hunt.
Backed by Iranian businessman Farhad Moshiri, Everton spent in excess of £200 million on new talent since January 2018.
Former Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has vowed to ‘help’ his friend Moshiri financially build the team further.
Welbeck wouldn’t come at an outright expense but after struggling to find a prolific striker, the former Manchester United could be that man.
