Dan Skelton looks ahead to his weekend at Chepstow

We start on Saturday with Supremely Lucky in the 1.55 at Chepstow. He won a bumper at the track last season.

He’s obviously a strong horse being a six-year-old but I really like him as a jumper for the future.

Our horses just need the run a little bit and I am sure everyone has noticed that they’re not quite fully there yet. I imagine that he will improve a bit for the run.

West To The Bridge showed well in some bumpers last year and he will run here as well. He has to learn to settle better but he is by Flemensfirth and will make a nice jumper.

Beyondapproach runs in 2.30, a mares novice hurdle. She won an Irish mares point very convincingly and although it was a small field, we like what we see at home.

We started Roksana in this race last year and although it’s impossible to determine if Beyondapproach will do as well as her, we do hold her in high regard.

We will run Spiritofthegames in a listed novice chase at 3.05. Obviously he took high order last year amongst the handicap hurdlers, placed in a lot of decent races.

I really like him as a chaser and again there is plenty of improvement to come. It’s a nice place to start him off but a very strong contest.

Comrade Conrad runs in the 3.35, a race we’ve had in mind for a long time. He would be one of the fittest ones we run on the card.

We’ve had him in a little bit longer so I would be happy for him to take his chance and expect him to run as well as he can really.

In the handicap Chase at 4.45, we run Cobra De Mai who had a good run the other day at Uttoxeter.

He stepped forward from that and I think he holds a chance even though he is stepping up to three miles for the first time.

I run Captain Chaos in the race too and he did really well last year as a novice chaser but I just think that the handicapper might have him in a bit high.

In the last race at 5.20 we have Boston Heather. Fitness won’t be an issue for her and I think this is the perfect race for her. She’s got to be competitive.

Sunday

The juveniles start things off at 2.15, again at Chepstow. I have Angel of The North and Roser Moter.

Both of them haven’t exactly set the world alight and are probably going to take a lower rank in handicaps to be quite honest.

Not That Fuisse runs in the 4.35. He won two novice hurdles back in May but there is room for improvement. He is nicely weighted in this and will hopefully run well.

Marracudja – 5.10 – has been running this summer but looks too high in the weights.

He is jumping well and we are happy with his health. I just don’t think that he’s that well handicapped.

In the bumper at 5.40, Allonok is a newcomer by Kalanisi. He shows nicely but he’s another who will improve I’m sure.

I want improvement in these horses. The same applies to Northofthewall who runs here too.  They both are national hunt bred, with plenty of a future to come.
