Burton Albion v Nottingham Forest tips: Clough to face his old team

Published:

The League Cup returns tonight with a tasty East Midlands derby kicking off the midweek action.

Nottingham Forest head to Burton Albion off the back of a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. The point keeps them right on the cusp of the Championship play-offs.

Burton, managed by former Red Nigel Clough, are looking to make an immediate return to the second tier but are rooted in 16th position in League One.

We take a look at how this game could unfold.

Match Odds

Forest took four points off their opponents in the league last year. The Reds are 23/20 to bag the win.

Burton begin at 12/5 to get their third win in five games in all competitions. A second-successive draw is 23/10.

Talking Tactics

Aitor Karanka could hand Claudio Yacob his debut. The Argentine is yet to feature since he signed for the club last month.

Forward Hillel Soudani may get a rare start if Karanka elects to rest Lewis Grabban.

Burton could be without a clutch of players including injury doubts Reece Hutchinson, Damien McCrory and forward Marvin Sordell.

Wigan loanee Devante Cole is cup-tied but midfielders Scott Fraser and David Templeton are set to feature.

This means they could revert to a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalscorer odds

Joe Lolley to score in a Forest win stands at 9/2.

Matty Cash is 12/5 to notch his fifth goal of the season. Grabban could start from the bench and is 4/1 to be the last goalscorer.

Clough will be looking to Liam Boyce if his side are going to progress here. The seven-goal striker is 5/1 to bag first.

Seasoned defender Kyle McFadzean comes in at 10/1 to score.
