Will Serena Williams make more history in the US Open final?

Serena Williams has the chance to win her first Grand Slam since returning to the court in the US Open final.

She’s understandably taken some time to get back to her very best after giving birth to her daughter. But the Compton-born star has looked as dominant as ever during this tournament.

The 36-year-old is 2/5 favourite to beat Naomi Osaka. And if she does get the win, Serena will equal Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles.

She showed signs of getting back to her best in her third-round win over her sister Venus. A comfortable quarter-final victory over Karolina Pliskova showed that the serial champion was ready to go head-to-head with the best players on the circuit again.

Anastasija Sevastova was no match for Williams in the semis. The American made a slow start, but cruised to a straight-sets win after losing just 12 points in the second set.

As well as equalling Court’s Slam record, Williams can also move above Chris Evert with a seventh US Open title this weekend, which would be more than any other woman in the Open era.

There’s no question that she’s one of the best players to ever pick up a racquet. And she could make two more historic records tumble next time she steps on the court.
