Wigan v Bristol City tips: Latics can keep on winning at home

Published:

Wigan Athletic are having a good time of things upon their return to the Championship this season.

The Latics sit a tidy eighth, having won four of their opening eight matches. Tonight they take on Bristol City and we’ve got all the key info…

Match odds

Wigan are the 21/20 favourites. Paul Cook’s men have been excellent on home soil, they’ve picked up 10 points from a possible 12 at the DW this term.

Visitors City sit fifth, but are the 12/5 outsiders here, with a draw available at the same price.

Talking tactics

Cook might choose to stick with the side which beat Hull City 2-1 on Tuesday night. That means Will Grigg starting up front, with Josh Windass, Nick Powell and Michael Jacobs offering support.

Wigan have options though, with Joe Gardner and James Vaughan available as alternative goalscoring outlets.

The Robins, who won four on the spin before losing 4-2 to West Bromwich Albion in midweek, have varied between 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 this season.

Andreas Wiemann and Matty Taylor are likely to be partnered again up front.

Goalscorer odds

Is Grigg on fire? The Northern Ireland international is 9/2 favourite to score first this evening, ahead of Vaughan and Garner at 5s apiece.

There’s 11/2 about Powell to bag first, with Callum McManaman 8/1.

City’s Wiemann has already scored five league goals this term, and is the Robins’ first goalscorer favourite at 5/1, with Taylor at 15/2.
