St Leger Festival Tips: Can Rumble Inthejungle land another big blow?
It’s a fantastic Friday at Doncaster this afternoon, with three Group contests and a competitive handicap to whet the appetite ahead of tomorrow’s St Leger.
Can Rumble Inthejungle justify favouritism in the Flying Childers Stakes? And does Willie Mullins have the winner in the Doncaster Cup.
We’ve answered those questions – and one more – in our ITV Racing Tips…
He’s named after the famous fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in Kinshasa.
But it was more about stinging like a bee than floating like a butterfly for Rumble Inthejungle at Goodwood last time out.
Richard Spencer’s speedster left his rivals trailing in his wake on the Sussex Downs to bolt up by over 2l and land the Molecomb Stakes.
His attitude, raw speed and relative experience should be enough to claim a third victory in four races for his new Cheveley Park Stud owners.
Richard Hannon has three runners entered into this Group 3 contest, but it’s Anna Nerium who’s the pick of the bunch.
The Dubawi filly is three from four over this trip and posted a career best effort last time out to land the Supreme Stakes at Goodwood from Dream of Dreams.
Jockey Tom Marquand takes the ride again, with the three-year-old bidding for a third win and fourth frame finish of the season in this company or lower.
The stayers come out to play in the final race of the day on ITV, with Willie Mullins launching a three-pronged assault on this 2m 2f contest.
The Irish-trainer will do battle with Thomas Hobson, Max Dynamite and Renneti. Yet it’s Saunter for Ian Williams who piques our interest in this Group 2 contest.
After proving his worth handicapping, the five-year-old will be looking to take the step up into Pattern Company in his stride.
He should enjoy the extended trip, and with James Doyle booked to ride, we fancy the raider to go close this afternoon.
ITV Racing Tips:
1:50 Doncaster – Anna Nerium (NB)
2:25 Doncaster – Rumble Inthejungle (NAP)
3:00 Doncaster – Ben Vrackie
3:35 Doncaster – Saunter (Lively Longshot)
