Nadine Shah and Sons of Kemet lead Mercury Prize race

There’s a two-horse race between Nadine Shah and Sons of Kemet for this year’s Mercury Prize, according to our latest odds.

The prize recognises the best album released by a British or Irish act over the last year. Nadine Shah is 3/1 favourite to win this Thursday, with Sons of Kemet just behind at 4/1.

The rest of the field is 6/1 or bigger, with the Arctic Monkeys at 10/1 and Florence + the Machine a 12/1 shot.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters are leaning towards the top two in the betting with just a day to go until an announcement is made, but as things stand it’s Nadine Shah who’s most likely to win this year’s award.”
