Manchester City v Lyon tips: Will the early favourites start with a win?

Manchester City

Manchester City were the best team in England by some distance last season. Now they’re aiming to extend their dominance over Europe.

Pep Guardiola’s side are 9/2 favourites to win the Champions League for the first time. They get their European campaign started at home to Olympique Lyonnais tonight. And we’ve got all the odds for you…

Match Odds

City have won all three of their home games this season. It’s no surprise they’re 1/6 favourites here.

Lyon haven’t won either of their last two games. They’re out at 16/1, while the draw is priced at 13/2.

Guardiola did warn his side about getting too complacent after their win over Fulham. City and Both Teams to Score is 31/20.

Talking Tactics

Sergio Aguero and Benjamin Mendy are both doubts for the Premier League champions. There’s no need to risk them at this stage of the season. Gabriel Jesus and Fabian Delph should fill in.

After making his first start of the season last weekend, Leroy Sane should keep his place. The winger’s speed could make the difference here.

Lyon won’t see much of the ball but they’ve got enough talent to pose a threat on the break.

Nabil Fekir has grown into one of the best playmakers around. Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay will want to prove a point in England too.

Goalscorer Odds

Jesus is 10/3 to get the first goal and 5/6 to score Anytime. If Aguero features, he’s 1/2 to hit the back of the net.

We also go 13/10 that Raheem Sterling scores for the third game running.

Depay and Bertrand Traore are both 10/3 to score for the visitors.
