La Liga Tips: Can Real and Atletico shut out Espanyol and Getafe?

Neither Real Madrid nor Atletico will want to lose any further ground on Barcelona this weekend as La Liga rolls on to gameweek five.

The pair are both odds-on to take all three points in their respective matches, while Barca host Girona at the Nou Camp.

We’ve looked ahead to those matches – and one more – in our La Liga preview…

Getafe v Atletico Madrid (Saturday, 5:30pm)

Atletico love taking on cross-city rivals Getafe. Diego Simeone’s men have won the last eight iterations of this fixture – all of them to nil.

They’re 10/11 to extend that run to nine and 17/10 to Win to Nil once again.

You can back a fourth 2-0 win for the visitors in six meetings at 12/1.

Real Madrid v Espanyol (Saturday, 7:45pm)

Life without Cristiano Ronaldo is going pretty smoothly thus far for Real Madrid. Los Blancos have won three out of three at home, with Gareth Bale stepping up to the plate each time.

The Welshman has scored four goals in his last five matches overall. He’s 12/5 to extend that run by netting first against Espanyol.

He should get plenty of joy against the visitors, who are fourth in the table but have lost their last six against Real without scoring a goal.

They’re even-money to Win to Nil here, with a fourth 2-0 success in five meetings at 6/1.

Villarreal v Valencia (Sunday, 3:15pm)

A fixture which is typified by close scorelines looks set to be a tight affair once again.

Villarreal’s last three La Liga fixtures have produced a paltry three goals, while Valencia’s most recent league encounter finished 0-0 against Real Betis.

We go 5/2 about there being Under 1.5 Goals in the game, with the visitors priced at 9/1 to record a 1-0 victory.

Barcelona v Girona (Sunday, 7:45pm)

It’s difficult to argue with Barcelona’s home record. Ernesto Valverde’s men have won 30 of their last 33 home fixtures at the Nou Camp – including a 6-1 success over Girona last season.

However, they have shown themselves to be susceptible from kick-off. Girona took the lead in this fixture last season, while Huesca also went 1-0 up prior to their 8-2 defeat three weeks ago.

Sunday’s opponents are 11/2 to Score First in the match, with Over 5.5 Goals available at 13/5. Lionel Messi is 19/10 to Score First.
