How the bookies are calling Amir Khan v Samuel Vargas

Amir Khan will be looking to get back into welterweight title contention when he faces Samuel Vargas in Birmingham on Saturday.
It’ll be Khan’s second fight since returning to the ring in April. And he’ll see this as a step towards a blockbuster bout further down the road.
And to get some insight into this bout, we’ve had a chat with the resident boxing expert in our trading department, Tommy Young.
Ladbrokes News: Always good to get your thoughts, Tommy. Are you expecting a tight one here or will Khan be too strong?
Tommy Young: “Unless Khan has a nightmare, he shouldn’t have any problems. This looks to be a pretty one-sided affair and odds of 1/25 for Khan and just 4/11 for the Khan knockout reflect that.”
LN: Vargas has a decent record though, no?
TY: Sort of. His record of 29 wins, three losses and two draws doesn’t seem too bad but he has no wins against anyone of note. His previous attempts to step up to world-level have both ended in defeats to Errol Spence and, more recently, Danny Garcia.
LN: Khan and Vargas have both lost to Garcia. Who fared better against the American?
TY: Vargas lasted until the 7th round, so he did at least manage to take Garcia further into the fight. Khan was stopped in the 4th round when they met.
LN: Khan spent almost two years away from the ring before facing Phil Lo Greco in April. Is there a chance he could be rusty?
TY: I don’t think so. Khan was very impressive last time out blowing away Lo Greco in under a minute and I’m expecting fireworks again. This fight is clearly a stepping stone to something bigger and I can’t see him wasting any time here. I expect another quick night’s work for Amir Khan.
LN: Great stuff. Are there any bets you’re eyeing up?
TY: I like the look of Khan to win in Rounds 1-3 at 4/1, or a longer shot is Khan in Round 1 at 16/1.
