Havant v Aldershot Town Tips: More Shots misery against the Hawks?

Westleigh Park Havant

It’s a Hampshire derby at Westleigh Park this evening, as Havant & Waterlooville host Aldershot Town in the National League for the very first time.

Both sides will be eager to collect all three points and move away from the relegation zone after equally mediocre starts.

But who will come out on top live on BT Sport 1? After tipping up a number of winners last night, we’ve previewed tonight’s match below.

Match Odds

Havant are 21/20 to pick up their first home win in five attempts and get one over on their local rivals.

Opponents Aldershot have lost their last six on the road.

They’re 12/5 to pick up a first away win since early February. You can back the draw at 11/5, with a 1-1 stalemate priced at 11/2.

Talking Tactics

The Hawks will need to tighten things up at the back after shipping 18 goals in their opening eight matches.

Ex-Millwall man Paul Robinson will be key to that, as will midfield playmaker Wes Fogden.

Boss Lee Bradbury could welcome back Alfie Pavey up-top after opting to go with just one central striker in Saturday’s defeat to Hartlepool United.

Tonight’s visitors could also make changes after the weekend’s disappointing defeat to Wrexham.

Shamir Fenelon and Dan Holman could both be in line for starts after cameo appearances off the bench, while James Rowe may come in for Regan Booty.

The Shots have lacked fluidity so far this season and must find a way of being more incisive from midfield here.

Likely Goalscorers

Pavey is the Hawks’ best hope of finding the net. The striker has two goals in his last four matches.

The aforementioned Fogden netted in defeat against Dover Athletic last month and continues to be a threat from midfield.

Aldershot have only scored five goals so far this season, but two of those have come from Scott Rendell. He’ll provide the Shots’ biggest threat again this evening.

Fellow forward Fenelon netted 10 times last term. He’s yet to really get going this campaign but could be useful from the bench, if he doesn’t feature from the off.
