Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tips: Cracker at Swansea and a Cardiff win?
The Carabao Cup action returns tonight, with the big guns joining the Second Round action.
A full 10 Premier League sides take to the field tonight, and we have a flurry of tips on three of the evening’s tastiest ties.
Our preview of the action kicks off at the Liberty Stadium…
Swansea City v Crystal Palace
This clash in South Wales is an intriguing one. There’s no doubt Premier League Palace have comfortably the better squad. But the Swans have history – as well as home advantage – on their side.
Swansea have won three of the last four head-to-heads, and are unbeaten in six against the Eagles. Even during last season’s relegation campaign, they won 2-0 at Selhurst Park.
A Draw could be the order of the day at 23/10. Meanwhile, it’s 5/6 we see Both Teams to Score for the fifth time in six meetings.
The hosts have Ollie McBurnie in form, after three goals in his last five games. He’s 23/10 to Score Anytime. Meanwhile, Palace’s Wilfried Zaha is the shortest price going at 9/5.
Cardiff City v Norwich City
In short, this is likely to be a tight and cagey affair. Warnock’s Bluebirds are defensively solid, but don’t tend to be big scorers. Each of their last two Prem games have ended 0-0.
However, they should prove too strong for Championship Norwich. Daniel Farke’s Canaries haven’t won an away game since January. It’s Evens for a Cardiff victory, while the hosts are 12/5 to Win to Nil.
The last clash ended 2-0 to the Bluebirds, at Carrow Road. A repeat scoreline in Cardiff’s favour is 17/2, while Kenneth Zohore is 13/8 to find the net in this fixture again.
AFC Wimbledon v West Ham United
This pair may be separated by two divisions, but the signs suggest we could see a cupset.
Wimbledon put Portsmouth to the sword in the last round, winning 3-1 at Fratton Park. And they could cause problems for a Hammers side who sit rock bottom of the Prem with no points and nine goals conceded after three games.
The hosts are 11/8 in the Double Chance. Meanwhile, the Draw is a shade longer at 29/10.
The prolific Joe Pigott has scored six in 11 for the Dons. He’s no stranger to the big occasion, having netted in a League One play-off final.
It’s 3/1 for Pigott to register, while the Irons’ best bet is Marko Arnautovic at 5/4.
