Monday’s Transfer Rumour Round-up: Leicester hunting Stoke striker

Mame Biram Diouf - Senegal

It’s less than four days until the transfer window closes for Premier League sides. And as you’d expect, clubs across the land are rushing to get their business done.

The rumour mill has been whirring throughout the day, and we’ve rounded up the top stories for you…

Can Foxes finally secure Diouf deal?

Leicester City endured a knock-back earlier today, with their bid for Stoke City forward Mame Biram Diouf rejected.

The Potters are believed to want £15m for the Senegalese ace, and it’s now a question of whether Foxes boss Claude Puel is willing to shell out for Diouf.

The East Midlands club trousered a hefty £61m for the sale of Riyad Mahrez, so they’re not short of a few bob.

Whether or not they’re willing to funnel more of that cash into Diouf – who has managed 111 goals in 328 career games – will soon become clear.

Irons closing in on Arsenal striker

Lucas Perez’s 2016 move to Arsenal hasn’t gone to plan. The Spaniard has made just 11 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, and spent last term on loan at former club Deportivo La Coruna.

But it seems the 29-year-old’s time in England isn’t ending this summer…

West Ham United are closing in on a deal for the out-of-favour striker, who could well be lining up in the claret and blue as early as this weekend.

Everton won’t be choosy on United defender

It seems that one Manchester United centre-back will be off to Everton before the window closes. But which one remains to be seen.

Toffees boss Marco Silva has spent much of the summer chasing Marcos Rojo. But with United reluctant to sell the tenacious Argentine, Silva is believed to be ready to take either of two Old Trafford alternatives.

The men in question are the solid Chris Smalling, and the raw-but-talented Victor Lindelof. Which – if either – Silva chooses, could go some way to defining Everton’s season.

Ahead of play, they’re 1/3 for a top-half finish, and 4/1 to finish in the top six.

United on the cusp of Spurs signing

Talking of the Red Devils and centre-backs, they now look set to add a new one to their own ranks.

Toby Alderweireld is just 2/5 to join the North-West giants. That makes United enormous favourites, with the next closest sides in the market tied at 16/1.

With over 230 Premier League appearances under his belt, and currently at the peak of his powers, the 29-year-old could be the missing ingredient for Jose Mourinho’s side. As it stands, Man United are 13/2 to win the Premier League this season.

Speaking of centre-backs, they’ve also been linked with a move for Jerome Boateng.

And the rest…

Paul Pogba could be on the cusp of a stunning move to Barcelona, with odds of 4/1 for a move to the Catalan heavyweights.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace may be set to welcome back a familiar face in the form of Yannick Bolasie. The former Eagle has struggled for games at current club Everton.
