Liverpool v West Ham tips: New-look Reds to start with a win?

Jurgen Klopp

Is this Liverpool’s year? After a very impressive transfer window, they go into the season with real optimism.

They kick things off this afternoon with a potential banana skin at home to West Ham United. The Hammers have brought in Manuel Pellegrini and totally revamped the squad over the summer.

Before they join the Premier League party, we’ve got all the odds for you…

Match Odds

Liverpool are clear 2/9 favourites, with the visitors up against it at 12/1. We’ve got the draw at 11/2.

It’s not hard to see why our traders fancy the hosts. They didn’t lose at Anfield in the league or Champions League last season.

But West Ham have some very dangerous attacking players in their ranks now. Both Teams to Score is 10/11.

Talking Tactics

Liverpool have bolstered their squad with Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri. Other than Shaqiri, they could all make their debuts here.

Alisson should give them much more security in goal. Keita and Fabinho’s presence will help Jurgen Klopp’s side control the midfield battle.

The Hammers will be looking to Marko Arnautovic and record signing Felipe Anderson to help them pull off an upset.

They’ll target the inexperience of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez. Last season showed that was easier said than done though.

Goalscorer Odds

Mohamed Salah is 9/4 to pick up where he left off last season and open the scoring. He’s 17/10 to score 2 Goals or more too.

Daniel Sturridge worked very hard during pre-season to get back into Klopp’s plans. He’s 21/20 to make the case for regular starts with a goal.

Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic are West Ham’s most likely scorers at 14/5 each.
