Istanbul BB v Burnley Tips: Clarets can take something from Turkey

Sam Vokes & Jack Cork - Burnley

Burnley head into the first leg of their Europa League qualifier against Istanbul Basaksehir tonight, having dispatched of Aberdeen last time out.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets eventually ousted a valiant Dons side after extra-time in the second leg at Turf Moor. And the Lancashire club are likely to provide a stern test for the Super Lig outfit.

Match Odds

In the match betting, Istanbul BB are even-money favourites on the night. Meanwhile, it’s 21/10 for the Draw, whilst Dyche’s visitors are 3/1 to grab a priceless away win.

The Clarets have lost just one of their last six away games in all competitions, and are 4/5 in the Double Chance.

As for the hosts, they tend to be involved in entertaining games. Four of their last five have seen both sides register. It’s 11/10 for Both Teams to Score at Fatih Terim Stadium, while we make it 5/1 for another 1-1 Draw involving Burnley.

Talking Tactics

Abdullah Avci’s side are fairly predictable in their set-up. It’s nearly always a 4-3-2-1 system, with former Premier League ace (and wind-up merchant) Emmanuel Adebayor up front.

Much of his service comes from a pair of talented wide men in Kerim Frei and Edin Visca.

Burnley adopted a 4-1-4-1 system for the trip to Pittodrie in the last round, and were unlucky not to leave with a win. More of the same is likely, with Chris Wood leading the line.

At the other end, the centre-back duo of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski offer stability. Meanwhile, Ben Gibson and Joe Hart could make their Clarets debuts.

Goalscorer Odds

The powerful Wood has been in fine form in recent months, netting six times in his last 10 games. The clinical Kiwi is 6/4 to Score Anytime, whilst it’s 4/1 he breaks the deadlock for the third time in seven outings.

For the hosts, the evergreen Adebayor is 13/8 to find the net. He tends to blow hot and cold, but is 8/1 to bag Two or More Goals.

Also at 8/1 is a goal for Jack Cork. The 29-year-old found the net against Aberdeen last game, and could fancy his luck again.
