Graeme Shinnie: There is no bigger game than Rangers at Pittodrie

Aberdeen grabbed an impressive draw at home to Burnley in the Europa League last week.
And the Dons are hoping to finish the job ahead of the Ladbrokes Premiership’s return this weekend.
Ahead of their trip to Turf Moor, Captain Graeme Shinnie told us: “We know we have to go down there and score and we feel we can do that. We’re desperate to get through to the next round.”
Following that 1-1 draw at Pittodrie, he explained: “We know the goal doesn’t have to come right away [at Burnley] because it’s a 90-minute game so patience will be key.”
“We’re going down there to harass them as much as we can and hopefully force them into mistakes.”
Ahead of kick off, the Dons are 9/1 for victory on the night. Meanwhile, the odds have Stevie May at 7/2 as Aberdeen’s most likely scorer.
Whatever happens, last week’s results for Scottish clubs in Europe impressed the 26-year-old.
“People are always comparing English and Scottish football, especially in terms of money, but we felt last Thursday was a good night for Scottish football all-around with our result and the other results.”
However, while Burnley is a big test on Thursday, it’s Sunday’s Premiership opener which is most exciting the Dons captain.
“There is no bigger game to start than Rangers at Pittodrie”, he explained.
“You can see the job Derek McInnes has done – that’s four years in second place after he inherited a side in the bottom six.
However, if there’s one area where Shinnie thinks improvement is needed, it’s against the Glasgow Giants. He admitted:
“The one thing we lacked was good results against the Old Firm – we should have done better.”
The Dons have a chance to put that right on Sunday, with Aberdeen 19/10 to beat Rangers at Pittodrie. Meanwhile, Shinnie is 15/2 to score against the Gers for the third time in his career.
